ASUS Eee 1005HA Review

The ASUS Eee has got a definition of a subnotebook/netbook. It was initially launched in 2007 and with its unique combination of a Linux OS and solid state hard disc drive, combined with a very light weight, it was an instant hit in the personal computer market. Initial sceptics apart, it has performed very well to warrant revisions and newer versions at a very rapid pace. So now we have the ASUS Eee 1005HA,which has a Windows XP OS, and the hardware is much more sophisticated.
An Intel Atom N280 powered 1.66GHz processor and 1GB RAM is a few features, 160 GB HDD and integrated Mobile Intel GMA 950 graphics means it has become a very popular model.
Now ASUS has recognised its niche and has kept its price in the net book range. $380 per Eee is a good buy considering it has all the features packed into a 3.4Lb and 10.1 inch frame!
Its primary use as a net book has been well received with fast connectivity from Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n, Wi-Fi and bluetooth.
Absence of an optical drive is not felt much and the 3 USB ports and SD card reader enhances its utility.
VGA video and the 1024×600 resolution screen of 10.1 inch, although not excellent, serves the purpose of a net book .It has a backlit LED which contributes to the thinness of the lid and also uses less power.
Here is the USP of the ASUS Eee as it has an amazing battery life, which is an amazing 6 hours 50minutes!
Overall websurfing, email, and word processing features are more then sufficient, however it has limited gaming and graphics options as is to be expected in a net book.
It also has a super hybrid engine feature, which conserves power and contributes to its amazing battery life. It has a great value in mobile surfing and utilizing Wi-Fi and wireless Internet.
On testing video features in the Eee 1005HA, it appears basic WMV runs without any hiccough and web media are very easily viewed.
It has the windows OS and XP runs without any hitch in this edition of the ASUS Eee! It is capable of running windows vista, however windows xp with sp2 seems best suited for this net book.
The main attributes are-
-Slim and lightweight
-High speed Internet connectivity with multiple options like Wi-Fi 802.11n and
-Fast file transfer and mobility with the bluetooth 2.1 feature.
-Nice keyboard and a large storage space of 160 GB HDD and the option of 10 GB online storage from ASUS Eee
-It also has a multitouch pad and easy zoom in and zoom out facility.
-A 1.3 Pixel web cam and external VGA dongle nicely complements its features.
-However the USP has to be its amazing battery of over 6 hours!
At the price range of a little over $380,it has a pleasant number of satisfied customers.
However competition includes the Acer Aspire ONE at $340 and the Lenovo Idea pad S10e at a little over $350.
Overall a value for money and nice visual appeal, great portability, with limited graphics and gaming capability. It has catered to the needs of a large base of satisfied customers.
