Blackberry Will Provide Messenger Access to Indian Government

The tussle between RIM(Research In Motion) and Indian government seem to be over with the former agreement to provide security lawful to the access to the blackberry messenger services.

This breakthrough comes after the Indian government had confirmed the August 31 deadline for RIM and mobile service solutions to come up with technical solutions to moderate India’s security concerns. The company has given security agencies an existing tool which enables them to trace plain text or encrypted blackberry messenger. After the meeting the vice president of Blackberry optimised that the company would resolve the Indian worries and said that it is the step to the long journey.

Pakistani based terrorists used satellite phones and mobiles in the attack on Mumbai 2008 which killed 166 people. The militants are suspect of using internet telephones which is widely available now days which is the main reason of Indian worries.

Moreover India is the latest country to take step towards rim which has built for the built for the blackberry’s reputation around privacy. Business mans and politicians use this device. Government of Saudi Arabia fears that if blackberry does not provide access than it would become the useful tool for terrorist for those breaking Islamic laws.

Indian has also kept in mind the national security and strictly forced the phone operators like bharti airtel to follow import rules to buy any telecom network equipments. The authorities of India is been looking for google’s messaging, skype and other providers for communication in India.

So whenever there are national security concerns the government will want access and every country has right to lawful interference.
