The Nokia E Phone series are the best smart phones that are initially addressed to business users, but it gives broader views in appealing thanks to the combination of good characteristic features of the software with a fulfilling complete hardware design.

The E71 has a fantabulous QWERTY types of the keyboard handset that are available, whereas the type E52 equals the design by amazing candy bar system, offering a design pattern of slim line bundled with its own features.

Design:

The Nokia E52 type is consequently a device with ’sub-10mm, sub-100g’. It’s really lighter and smaller than more ‘feature phones’ quantifying 98g weight 116mm tall by 49.9mm extensive and 9.9mm thick, which peppers the mid-range from the consumer trade.

It is a professional aspect that all-grey casing contributes a section of the aluminum which serves the phone to resists its contribution of knocks and drops. If the scheme of the color is grumbled, the aluminum handles the pressure.

The one which is having the white key markings doesn’t always excel in both the dull indoor and bright outdoor. It could be very hard to differentiate their markings. The white backlight acts very brilliant in job when it is used.
Nokia has carried off to fit in an impressive great number of pads, with the biggest keys having just about 6mm tall and 15mm wide.

The two external columns of keys are somewhat little than the interior one and the lower rows of the keys present externally are especially curtailed, but all of the keys are comparatively larger.

The navigation button that is raised up by the keypad has an elevated external rim that makes it casual to attain accurately, and the select button which is present internally is also large.

The persisting buttons aren’t rather so successful:

Nokia has grouped 8 functions in the number pad which results in little cramped parts and the external navigation button.

A flat part of the left and right side of the navigation button holds the soft menu keys in addition to the End and the call keys. Intermediate to that lies, a pair of advanced buttons with a rocker-like design access to the Calendar and Home present on the left.

The advanced buttons feel a bit flimsy below the fingertips, and people with big or short fingers may find such things a little challenging task to work with.

Professionally Qualified – The E52 Type:

• Compact and simple
• Good battery life
• Usable keypad with big button systems
• 2 well switch able home screens

Cons:

• Miserable key markings
• Shortcut keys are somewhat difficult to us

Functioning & Battery Life:

There are some complaints whenever the usability is pertained. The E52’s type of screen that are present in rotary motion is responsive and the available accelerometer can set to snooze alarms and silence the calls simply by turning the face down in the handset, which is a convenient method.

The number keys are big and comfortable to use, even though the key marking can be easily cleared in lowest light circumstances, the kind of backlight is not yet triggered.

Lifetime of the battery is initially effective. Nokia answers that you should arise to 8 hours of talk in GSM, and 18 hours of playback music and 23 days only on standby or 30 hours of hearing FM radio.

We had to carry the test over many days, as the E52 type of battery delivered an astonishing 26 hours 19 minutes of hearing in the playback music.

Conclusion:

The E52 is one type of Nokia’s finest candy bar-format handset all time. Small and tidy, it crams in mass of characteristics and presents good life to battery. If one not needs to use a touch-screen, believe this Smart phone. Its worth buying.

Smartphones have come a long way since Nokia released the Communicator way back in 1996, and where they were once a niche market for business professionals and geeks, they are now almost universal with everyone and their dog sporting a BlackBerry, the latest iPhone deal or Android phone in their pocket.

The main reason for this explosion in popularity is the huge functionality these phones allow, and with storage capacity growing all the time there is almost nothing we cannot store on our smartphones. So, what makes a great smartphone? Here are our top five features.

1. Games

One of the big things modern phones can do is play games. Sure, Nokia popularised this with the legendary Snake on its 3210 model, but it’s a whole other ball game now. Flash-enabled phones allow users to play online games and a platform’s app store not having thousands more available for download can turn a customer off – just ask Microsoft whose latest Windows Phone 7 platform, didn’t feature Angry Birds for many months.

The ability to play quality-rich games effectively is down to processor speed. The Samsung Galaxy S2’s 1.2GHz dual-core processor makes it more powerful than many low-end computers and this is by no means the exception; other high-end smartphones are not lacking in power either. This huge processing power means consumers can play hugely popular games like Deal or no Deal whenever they feel the need, or the more classic but still popular Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The more adventurous user can even install an emulator of their favourite console and play classic games from their childhood – Sonic the Hedgehog anyone?

2. HDMI output

Large processors and oodles of RAM also permit power-intense usage, like streaming an entire film from Netflix to be watched on the train, bus or on your home television set thanks to such technology as HDMI. This excellent function allows you to download a film to your device, or copy it from your PC, plug it into the television and sit back with some popcorn.

3. Tethering

Many smartphones also offer the option of tethering; using your unlimited data plan to browse the web on your computer. The speed might not be as blistering as your fibre-optic broadband, but it’s still a godsend when you’re stuck in a hotel room with no modem available.

4. Front-facing cameras

Smartphones are still phones despite all their advanced capabilities and most models still centre on communication. Twitter and Facebook integration are all well and good, but front-facing cameras are the real gem here. These are lower quality than the main camera on the rear, but they allow for video calls with applications like Skype, so you can talk face-to-face with anyone anywhere in the world. Most phones allow video calling via 3G, although the iPhone limits the use to Wi-Fi and only to other Apple products.

5. Expandable memory

There would be little point in having a phone capable of capturing and playing HD videos and photos, streaming films, playing games and music and saving documents if it only had a couple of gigabytes of storage. As people’s usage is different, most phones have a microSD slot so the user can insert a memory card to increase the storage space. This means you can upload anything you want onto the device and not worry about running out of space.

This quick rundown of five excellent capabilities of modern smartphones is by no means comprehensive, and different users will have different favourite features. These features have proven themselves to be extremely popular and invaluable to users, and they are what will push the limits of the next generation of smartphones.

HTC has been a pioneer in releasing a number of extremely intuitive and interactive smartphones that has allured the attention of many tech lovers and gadget freaks all over the world. Two of the latest babies of HTC include the Sensation and the Desire S. In today’s review, we will take a look at the two phones and derive at conclusions such as which phone is better in the most important aspects, etc.

Ergonomics:

HTC is not a big fan of chic phones; it is of the opinion that looks don’t matter, as long as the interiors are well equipped and plush, and we tend to agree with its opinion generally. Though these phones are not the best in ergonomics in the market, the Sensation and Desire S have decent dimensions of 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm and 115 x 59.8 x 11.6 mm lengthwise, breadthwise and by thickness, respectively. The Sensation weighs 18g more than its counterpart which is about 130g heavy. Both the phones have S-LCD capacitive touchscreens though that of the Sensation is larger at 4.3” than the Desire S’ which measures about 3.7”.

Operating System:

As expected, the phones have sturdy Android platforms making them excellent devices for running applications downloaded from the open source Android market. Both the devices have Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) as their Android versions. The processors augmenting he phones’ operating systems are however different. While the Sensation has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, an Adreno GPU and a Snapdragon chipset, the Desire S settled for a slower processor of 1GHz speed albeit the other specs remain the same.

Memory:

What it lost in the processor area, the Desire got it in the memory slots! The Sensation has a 1GB ROM and a 768 MB RAM. The RAM of the Desire S is as large as the Sensation but its ROM is 1.1GB large. Both the phones offer memory expansion up to 32GB and an 8GB card comes included in the box.

Connectivity:

Who better than HTC when it comes to flawless communication? With 2G networks supported by GSM quad-bands 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G networks supported by HSDPA 900/2100, these devices are best suited for excellent voice communication and data transfer over the World Wide Web, more commonly known as the internet. GPRS and EDGE have also been enabled with speeds up to 114 kbps and 560 kbps. WLAN has also been enabled with the help of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

Camera:

The Sensation has a 8MP camera while its competitor has a slightly less impacting 5MP shooter. Both the cameras however, have features such as geo-tagging, autofocus, image stabilization, face detection, dual-LED flash, etc. Video can be recorded in the Sensation at 1080p and 30fps, while in the Desire S, it can be done at 720p and 30 fps. Both the phones also have VGA secondary cameras.

Battery life:

HTC has understood the importance of having good batteries in order for the mobile to sustain competition from other mobile corporation devices such as Samsung, etc. While the Sensation has a 1520 mAh battery, the Desire boasts of a 1450 mAh one. Both the batteries are lithium ion fuels.

The Desire S costs about 370 Euros while the Sensation can be bought for 600 Euros (approx.)

One of the most difficult tasks to do is to compare two very good phones. And we got one task hands-on which highly resembled the aforesaid herculean job. In today’s review we take a look at the HTC HD2 and the Apple iPhone 4, and compare their features thereby enabling users to decide on which phone to buy.

Operating System:

The Operating systems of the two phones are poles apart. One, the HTC HD2 runs on an Microsoft Windows Phone platform which is a relatively new OS, whereas the other, the Apple iPhone 4 runs on an iOS platform, apps for which can be purchased only from registered and strictly regulated websites that cater to the needs of the users of this exclusive class of smartphones.

Ergonomics:

The HTC HD2 is about 120.5 mm long, 67 mm broad and just about 11 mm thick. It is slightly bulky, however, at 157 grams and it is sure to keep the feeling of something heavy in your pocket continuously. On the other hand, the iPhone scores better as far as design features are concerned. Lengthwise, it measures 115.2 mm, breadthwise it stands at 58.6 mm and it is as thin as a card at 9.3 mm. It also weighs considerably lesser at 137 g. The screen of the iPhone is a classy LED-backlit one while the HD2 features an antediluvian TFT capacitive touchscreen. The iPhone’s screen also offers a better resolution at 640 x 960 pixels despite being smaller (3.5”) than the HD2 (4.3”).

Memory:

One of the major turn-off factors for anyone considering buying an iPhone is that the device does not permit expanding memory as it does not feature a microSD card slot. Nevertheless, it’s internal memory is pretty capacious at 16/32 GB, which is accompanied by a 512 MB RAM. Contrary to the iPhone, the HD2’s only data storage feature is its memory card which can be a maximum size of 32 GB. It is powered by a 448 MB RAM and a 512 MB ROM.

Connectivity:

Both the phones are GSM phones and offer 2G and 3G capabilities at GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100, though the HD2 offers HSDPA 850 only in the Australian version. The phones are also equipped with GPRS and EDGE features. It is to be noted that these features are much better developed in the HD2 than the iPhone making it an obvious chose for persons willing to stay connected on the go. Of course, like any other smartphone of the day, these also seem to contain Bluetooth and microUSB attributes that come in handy for data transfer. They also possess Wi-Fi capabilities, in addition to the list of connectivity features listed above

Camera:

The camera of neither phone can be called top class but yes, they are pretty much above average. Being 5MP shooters, they offer features such as autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, etc. The video recording of HD2 is pretty bad as it offers only VGA quality recording against the 720p of iPhone. Though the iPhone features a secondary cam which the HD2 doesn’t, it comes in useful for videocalling only over Wi-Fi networks.

Applications:

A number of applications such as maps, radio, media players, doc viewers, etc. adorn the menus of both the phones and for the greedy, more apps can be downloaded for both the platforms from a few websites which can be narrowed down with the help of Google.

Battery:

Apple is known for creating phones and laptops with excellent batteries and this baby is no exception to this golden rule of Apple. Fitted with a Li-Po battery with a power rating of 1420 mAh, the phone competes fiercely with the HD2, which is fueled by a Li-ion at of 1230 mAh.

If you’re after a new smartphone, you’ll typically have to choose between a prepaid plan and a contract. Mobile phone contracts typically have you sign-up for a set period of time, usually running from 1 to 2 years. You’ll pay a set charge every month in return for cheap or inclusive rates. At the other end of the scale, prepaid plans come with no contracts or commitments. However, you’ll typically pay higher call charges or text messages.

A mobile phone contract is great if you’re after value for money. Contracts tend to have cheaper call rates, text messages and data allowances. Most mobile phone networks heavily subsidize handsets available on longer term plans. You could get the new Nexus S from Vodafone.com.au on their Infinite Plan for $65 / month on a 24-month plan and no upfront costs.

Contracts often come with a cap, so you know exactly how much you’ll pay at the end of the month. Vodafone’s $19 cap comes with 100Mb of data, free access to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, foursquare and LinkedIn within Australia, plus $70 of Vodafone to Vodafone & 3 standard national voice calls within Australia. Remember to read through your contract’s terms and conditions carefully for exclusions under your cap.

Also, most mobile plans don’t require you to top-up your credit on a regular basis. Use your phone day-in day-out without having to worry about your balance or unused credit at the end of the month. You could even go one step further and set-up a direct debit online so you don’t have the hassle of arranging payments. Click here for more information.

If the latest round of Internet rumours and speculation hold any truth, we could reasonably expect to see Apple’s iPhone 5 hit the shops later this year. But will it be worth the wait? And will the iPhone 5 see Apple push their flagship mobile range a few steps forward from the impressive-but-flawed iPhone 4?

The hopes and expectations being placed on the iPhone 5 are holding back many prospective phone buyers from investing in a new handset until after its release, with few people wanting to spend their money on another device only to then wish they had waited for the new iPhone to arrive in shops.

iPhone 4 users currently enjoy the power of a 1GHz Apple A4 chip and 512 MB of memory but, if rumours are to be believed, the iPhone 5’s performance could be driven by a faster 1.2 GHz dual core processor with an accelerated GPU and more than 1GB of memory.

The 5’s screen is expected to be larger than its predecessor, making it perfect for watching television shows via the mobile TV applications that some say are being developed in time for its release.

The iPhone 4 came under fierce criticism for being prone to “dropping calls” – cutting users off mid-conversation. This problem is said to have been due to the design of the phone’s antenna, which faltered if interrupted by a misplaced finger around the phone’s rim. This problem’s repair is said to be one of the factors holding up the release of the iPhone 5, which prospective users hope will never drop a call.

In keeping with the Apple tradition of making its products progressively slimmer, the iPhone 5 is expected to be just a slip of a thing, and some users are calling for Apple to unclutter the iPhone by making the 5 an all-touch-screen controlled device. Speculation is also abounding that the iPhone 5 could ditch glass in favour of a carbon fibre framework.

Battery life is also a key consideration for iPhone users. The iPhone 4 came under fierce criticism for not being very energy efficient, with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg joking on Twitter that he purchased multiple chargers just to keep his iPhone 4 on the go.

Rob Balmforth, business and IT analyst at QuoCirca, highlighted battery life as the major challenge for the iPhone 5 as it seeks to trump its competitors in a highly competitive market.

He told ITPro: “The iPhone 5 needs to be more like a BlackBerry in terms of battery life so business users can trust that it will be functional for the entire working day. And then some.”

We have to spend more time playing with the apple iphone 4’s 2 digital cameras. The actual back digital camera is really a 5-megapixel design, up through three mega pixels on the iphone. However megapixels aren’t valued everything-in fact, the iphone camera creates better result than numerous smartphone digital cameras with increased megapixels. This particular brand new camera seems to follow it’s predecessor’s actions, although we was only able to take in a controlled atmosphere in Apple’s trial area. The actual pictures appeared excellent in survey mode. We look forward in carrying out a detailed analysis to get our very own iphone 4 and utilize it to shoot in more varied environments.

Amazing Camera Style

Also a new comer to the rear-facing digital camera is definitely a brilliant flash. When you change the actual shutter switch, Led flashes to allow the actual camera to adjust the actual brightness. Nevertheless, for most of us the actual flash means that you’ll usually have the ability to take an image, even though it is getting pretty darkish. (You can arranged the actual flash to never fire, always fire, or even fire automatically once the digital camera sensory faculties that you’ll require this.)

The actual apple iphone 4’s front-facing camera is not the 5-megapixel question; it is the 640-by-480-pixel camera (three-tenths of the megapixel, if you are interested) designed for use primarily with the new FaceTime video-chat system, though it’ll also work well in an effort to consider self-portraits. You are able to use among the leading as well as back camera through inside the Digital camera app, in addition to whenever you’re using facetime.

FaceTime

FaceTime itself worked great within the demos we had completed through Apple’s workers. Movie high quality within the FaceTime shows appeared somewhat variable; it’s definitely not the high-def video experience, however it doesn’t should end up. (However as we learned through iChat Audio-video, the actual check along with movie chatting is when you try to begin a chat through numerous network problems.) The starting couldn’t end up being simpler, however.

I believe application is mainly in order to launch friend list in order to configure. It is a very cool idea, though it does help to make our entire question exactly on what will happen with the additional device when joining facetime integration.

As soon as you are inside a FaceTime conversation, you can easily switch among landscaping and family portrait orientations, or leap back and forth between the actual iphone 4’s front- and rear-facing cameras-in case a person want to show your discussion partner what you’re considering. As in iChat on the Mac pc, there is a small window which shows what your camera is actually seeing, and you will lug which lite in to any of the screen’s corners.

As one of the market leaders in smartphones and tablet technology, the world has eagerly awaited the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy SII, the latest feature packed smartphone from industry giants Samsung. Due to be released in the UK later this year, the Samsung Galaxy SII is the successor to the Galaxy S, the mobile phones which reached record sales in 2010 and knocked the iPhone 4 out of contention for the top spot.

These new mobiles bring a smaller, lighter feel to the world of smartphones, setting a new standard in technology design to compete with the large screened, bulky Android mobiles the world has become used to from the likes of HTC. At just 8.49mm thick it is as if Samsung have managed to squeeze all that technology into a thick playing card. The screen size is an impressive 4.3 inches making this one of the most multi-functional mobiles to hit the streets since the Desire HD last year.

Weighing in at just 116g, the Samsung Galaxy S II is also one of the lightest mobiles the world has seen so far and with the big screen and thin proportions it feels somewhat flimsy. That’s not to say it won’t stand the test of time, but if you decide to go for one of these it’s probably a good idea not to keep it in your back pocket.

The screen itself uses the characteristic Samsung Super Amoled Plus technology and the manufacturers claim it is 18% sharper than its predecessor. The display is nothing short of beautiful, with high definition colours practically bursting from the screen. The response time has also been improved, giving lightning fast navigation and app loading, comparable to the processor speeds found in Apple’s latest devices.

One of the major new features is the HFC technology. This allows users to pay for certain services and is due to be integrated into the UK transport system, replacing the need for individuals to carry Oyster cards and the like. There is talk of this type of service becoming available in shops and other industries but that is likely to be some months, or even years off.

User interface technology has also been improved in the new Samsung Galaxy SII. Users can now place streams for popular applications such as Twitter and Facebook directly on their home screen so updates and feeds can be seen instantly without the need to enter the application. The home screen itself is much more customizable, allowing users to have the screen as busy or as minimalist as they like.

The phone has integrated hub technology as well, an idea possibly gleaned from Microsoft which allows various apps and feeds to be grouped into categories such as social, games, music and work. Not many mobiles can boast the processor capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S II as it houses a dual core processor, similar to its giant cousin the Galaxy Tab 10.1. This allows applications to load quicker and high graphics games and videos to play smoother. The manufacturers claim the performance is around 70% better than it was on the Galaxy S and with this increased performance no doubt the games developers will be eager to take advantage of being able to design more intricate and exciting games to enjoy.

The in-built camera is a capable 8 mega pixel monster complete with LED flash for super crisp images. Whilst mobiles are still out of the league of dedicated digital cameras, it is still nice to see such high performance tools can be packed into such a small and light package. Like the Galaxy S, the Samsung Galaxy SII includes the Samsung Voice Solution technology which the manufacturers say has been completely revamped for this new model. This will allow users to control certain apps, write text and compose emails using their voice, a great time saving feature as long as the user can speak slowly and clearly enough, preferably without a regional accent, for the phone to understand each and every word.

All in all this new model is a faster, slimmer and lighter improvement on its predecessor and the screen is going to take some beating by other manufacturers of smart mobiles. Reliability factors and marketplace integration remain to be proven, but short of a disaster this excellent little phone is looking like a strong contender for smartphone of the year 2011.
