Nokia N96 – Review From The Experts

Design – Expert
The Nokia N96 is somewhat a refined variation when compared with the previous versions of the N Series themes, started by Nokia a few years before. Although it’s packed with many features, the Nokia N96 is something like a brick, a blocky-looking system with mess of many buttons tangled on the front. Beneath the huge model the crispy 2.8-inch screen, is the greatest of the clump for current N-Series phones. We got some similar categories of Send End keys in additional to the basic menu key, a multimedia key, 2 soft keys and menu keys. A class of multimedia playback keys looks about the 4-way button which is a great option of Nokia N96. The N96 is also a dual-slide phone, so whenever you open the system against the computer keyboard, you’ll get the playback keys in a vertical row.
What could it be called – Very Good
Nokia N96 test units are used by AT&T’s 3G frequencies for the transfer of data and for dialing. In the test conducted, around the larger Dallas metro area, we were satisfied with the results. The Calls went very good over HSDPA network & AT”s. Response was also satisfying, with a full complement of signal bars whenever it was controlled. Battery life was not good. Nokia assures a little more than twenty-five hours, and with a moderate battery capacity.
Effective Way to Carry Out Messaging
For messaging, the Nokia N96 does not accompany with several choices preloaded, but there are few exciting apps ready to download directly from the phone’s download menu. Simple text messaging arrives pre-loaded, but it was a pretty dissatisfactory app without any threaded messaging capability to appear all the messages transmission at once.
There is a common e-mail customer on board with enough of choices to set up your own IMAP or POP account, but we have to download Nokia’s Mail for Exchange alternatively, which allow us to keep tabs on our Microsoft Exchange report. We could not turn over into our subfolders, but messages in our inbox will be available.
For instant messaging, we have to download a promising appearing app from Nimbuzz. This is aimed to keep in touch with several accounts at once, including Twitter accounts, Gtalk, Facebook, as well as the Yahoo services and standard AOL.
Unluckily, the Nimbuzz app did not work as advised. It could not log onto the Facebook account, and had few problems in directing messages through another services. Occasionally a message would simply acquire swallowed by the ether.
GPS navigation – Great
The Nokia N96 arrives furnished with Nokia Maps, which can be an effective piloting tool, just appeared to lag quite a bit on this phone. It could not find any terminating point in it search, and accepted trouble redrawing maps in time as we forced down the highway. We possessed a better feel using the similar app on the Nokia N85, so we’re going to charge the phone for our difficulties here.
Overall Comparison:
When compared with other unlocked Nseries system, the Nokia N96 does not add up many features as expected. While online retailers similar to Amazon are distributing this phone for $500, the Nokia N85 enters far cheaper at about $330. Though the older version phones misses the storage capacity when compared with N96, this model uses a screen that could be divided smaller, it’s a much better system all around with a responsive feel and an OLED screen. Keeping Nokia’s numeric naming conventions aside, we’d well choose the N85 over this system.
Pros
With a large screen and good quality of sound, the music lovers will enjoy this phone.
Cons
The battery life of N96 is very low when compared with other models.
