Samsung NX Series Hybrid Digital Camera Review

Samsung NX Series

Its official now, the Samsung NX series was launched in 2009 amidst much funfare. Now launching the NX series has been done with much publicity, as it is a concept digital camera. The NX series has conceptualised the mixing of the performance and the images quality of a DSLR camera and the portable and mobile nature of a compact camera. That was an aim of almost all camera manufacturers for a long time. Now comparing with the cost and the menu offered by the NX series of hybrid cameras, we take a look at the utility of the product.

It is supposed to be filler in the compact to DSLR segment. Now like DSLR camera’s it has APS-C sized image sensors, which gives excellent pictures and much better then the compact camera picture quality.

It employs EVF (ultra precise electronic viewfinder) and unlike the DSLR camera’s there mirror box. This feature has allowed the size to be reduced. It is claimed that the distance between the lens and the sensor is less by approximately 60% owing to this innovation.

Another highlight is the ‘live view’ feature allowing users better versatility and picture framing.

Like a point and shoot digital camera it will be portable and can be easily carried around in a person and will have the crystal clear focus of a SLR camera. As there are many lenses in a SLR camera, automating the process of having interchangeable lenses will make it easier to capture clearer images.

The NX series from Samsung is said to have the APS-C sized sensors, which are 105-145mm2 larger then those used in the DSLR manufacturers like Panasonic (Lumix DMG-G1), as the sensor system is different.

Slated for release in the later half of 2009,the hybrid or the NX series of cameras from Samsung clearly is a breed apart. However market prices will determine the immediate market acceptance of this potentially path breaking gadget.

Much like incorporating professional features into a compact digital camera! It will allow the user to capture high-resolution images and give a freelancer much more mobility and make him professionally unobtrusive.

Compared with SLR (single lens reflex) the critical issue of eliminating changing lenses and yet retaining the picture quality is being addressed in this gadget. Interchangable lenses in a non-SLR camera would be a mouth-watering prospect to all camera aficionados!

Much like Samsung earlier products like the GX-20, which offers 14.6 mega pixel CMOS image sensor, the NX series is expected to bring in market evolving technology and give a fresh impetus to the camera market.

Remains to be seen how the market accepts this innovation of technology and in spite of manufacturers claim of getting large market coverage through this product, it might turn out to be a link between digital compact camera’s and the SLR’s .The company website still has no word on the market price of the product yet, however presumptive prices are still guesswork and that itself will determine a lot of its market credentials.

Its competition, including Sony and Panasonic are surely cooking up something to match this hotly anticipated release.
